Recreation Opportunities
Whether you like mountain fishing or
miles of ATV trails, this reservoir is for you. Anglers will find that the
lake offers trout and bass fishing. ATV riders can access both the Paiute
ATV Trail and the Marysville Loop. No matter what your reason for
visiting, this reservoir is a great summer getaway. Visit the ghost town
of Kimberley where 3,000 gold miners worked around the turn of the century
and the birth place of the famous outlaw Butch Cassidy. Also, numerous
pictographs and petroglyphs are in this area.
Recreation Sites
There are no developed recreation
sites, but campers are welcome.
Wildlife
Mountain goats live on the rocky crags,
a magnificent trophy elk herd is also found on the Monroe Mountain. High
desert reservoir that is habitat for wetland bird species including common
loons, pelicans, cormorants, gebes, gulls, terns, coots, ducks, and geese.
Ospreys are common summer residents; golden and bald eagles, and
rough-legged hawks may be viewed during the winter.
Geology
The Paiute ATV Trails is a 200-mile
loop over three mountain ranges and through rugged canyons and deserts
that has been designed for recreational ATV riding. The Tushar Mountains
are the remains of an ancient volcano and rise above timberline to 12,000
feet. The Pahvant Range climbs through rugged terrain to a summit which
overlooks red rock and steep timbered canyons.
