January 27-31 - Sioux Empire Farm Show, Sioux Falls - For 55 years the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce has been sponsoring one of the best farm shows in the upper Midwest. The Sioux Empire Farm Show keeps getting bigger and better with 6 breeds competing for Supreme Row. Exhibitors from 15 states participate in all facets of the farm show. Nationally-renowned vendors from across the United States showcase their specialties. Thursday is Ag Appreciation Day, Friday is Business & Industry day, Saturday is School & Community day, and Sunday is Church & Family day. Competitors from ten plus states vie for the Grand Champion Trophy and a chance to go to a national competition. A peoples choice is held for the public. In addition, there is the Fat Friday Chili Challenge. The family-oriented activities include something for all ages. Activities include but are not limited to: a Dart Tournament, Miss. Fish Days Queen and Lil' Miss Fishy Contest, Alex Knudsen III Annual Softball Tournament, Fishing Tournament, Parade, Mud Run and Drag Race, Kids'Games, Kids' Pedal Pull, Car Show, Bingo, Free-will Fish Dinner, Street Dance, Mutton Bustin', Motorcycle Blessing and Breakfast, Demolition Derby, and a Fireman's Water Fight. All these locally sponsored events, plus a 3 day carnival help to make Fish Days a family friendly event you should not miss. Meet musicians and dancers from all over! Dance two step, waltz, polka, jitterbug, schottische and more. Two huge rooms each with a large dance floor. Dance contest, exhibitions and even lessons.
